Whole Life Worship – Sam and Sara Hargreaves

John saysThe first sentence on the back cover is a succinct and punchy statement ‘Worship is more than music; it’s a lifestyle” and this sums up the direction the book takes.  This book is the latest covering the LICC emphasis on frontline ministry. Imagine Church and Fruitfulness on the Frontline are two others.

The book is divided into two parts. The first part covers the foundations and frameworks for the living of  ‘whole life worship’. Rooted in scripture and everyday life it explores how important worship is as a lifestyle and how our attitudes and behaviours are shaped by the way we worship. I found the Chapter on 3D worship  challenging but well worth thinking through. The second part of the book lays out practical examples of how to integrate everyday life into gathered worship.  Each chapter takes an important aspect of worship as a pivot to explore how we  coming from  our everyday lives to gathered worship and go out equipped to live our everyday lives as ‘scattered’ worshipping disciples. The book also comes with a set of outline ideas for use in worship which are helpful and will give inspiration for the future development of Whole life worship. In their preface to the book Sam and Sara pray  ‘We pray that God will take us all deeper into what biblical, authentic and world changing worship looks like, wherever and however we express it.’ This book and the additional resource material will certainly help individuals and churches on that continuing journey. The cost for the whole pack including a memory stick of Power point presentations and short videos is £25 and is available from LICC and all good Christian bookshops.
